United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has partnered with Bangladesh ever since its birth and through its remarkable journey from a war-ravaged economy to a middle-income country. It remains a catalyst in Bangladesh’s journey from Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. UNDP assists in building institutions and helps strengthen institutional capacities through people-centric, pro-poor, inclusive and sustainable policy making and development governance.
Context

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) partners with people at all levels of society to build nations capable of withstanding crises and fostering sustainable growth, thereby improving the quality of life for everyone. Operating in over 160 countries and territories, UNDP provides global perspective and local insights. It actively works towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by concentrating on crucial areas like poverty alleviation, democratic governance, climate change response, disaster resilience, addressing economic inequality, and promoting sustainable energy. Through collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including governments, civil society, and the private sector, UNDP implements innovative solutions and policies supporting the SDGs. This commitment ensures meaningful contributions to sustainable, inclusive growth, leaving no one behind.
In line with these priorities, UNDP focuses on crosscutting themes that inform work across a spectrum of projects. Key focus groups include women, addressing their vulnerability and marginalization, and youth, acknowledging their role as drivers of economic growth and social change.

In Bangladesh, UNDP harnesses the power of new technologies, ranging from improved kiln designs for brickmaking to novel data collection methods and digitalization initiatives within the Bangladeshi government. This approach underscores UNDP’s dedication to embracing innovative development opportunities.

To effectively communicate with a broad range of stakeholders and increase the visibility of its activities and successes, UNDP Bangladesh has established a Communications Unit. This unit plays a crucial role in strengthening UNDP's image, supporting communication in projects, and contributing to advocacy on development issues.

In an effort to further enhance the engagement of its projects and highlight their contributions, UNDP is seeking an "Assistant-Multimedia Content Producer." This role involves assisting in producing multimedia content, generating ideas, drafting scripts, shooting, basic editing etc. The Assistant-Multimedia Content Producer will also coordinate with project teams to gather content. This position is key to amplifying the impact of UNDP's work and ensuring the effective dissemination of its achievements and lessons learned.
The UN Youth Volunteer for Assistant-Multimedia Content Producer profile will require a young and self-motivated person with a background in media, digital communications/marketing, or a similar field. Prior work experience in the field would be desirable, however, fresh university graduates are also encouraged to apply.

This is a full time UNV position, based in UNDP office in Dhaka, with possible frequent travel inside Bangladesh. Also, the successful candidate should occasionally expect to have flexible working hours to comply with the assignment deadlines, travel and urgent assignments that may happen during the non-working days.
Task description

Under the direct supervision of the Multimedia Content Producer and matrix management by the Head of Communications, UNDP Bangladesh, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

1.    Assist in content creation:  Assist in developing audio-visual content, including videos, podcasts, infographics, and animations.

2.    Assist in documenting events: Assist in capturing photos and short reels of public events.

3.    Assist the projects: Working closely with project communications focal persons and assisting them in creating content for social media

4.    Platform optimization: Tailor multimedia content to different platforms like Face-book, X, Insta, TikTok, YouTube and also website, ensuring it aligns with the plat-form's specifications and audience preferences.

5.    Collaboration: Work closely with vendors, consultants, procurement and logistics team and other stakeholders to ensure delivery on time.

6.    Digital content archiving: Assist in gathering and storing digital content with proper tags

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:

•    Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark IVD);
•    Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
•    Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities.
•    Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.
•    Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers;
•    Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
•    Networking and building relationships with local organizations, groups or individuals and supporting and/or participating in local volunteering initiatives.
